InsideLine gets the playfield today with increased BMW news. The respectable publication is quoting BMW’s head of marketing and advertising, Ian Robertson, for the potential for BMW bringing the brand new F31 3 Series Wagon to the U . s ..

In accordance with the magazine, BMW has no intentions to import the modern 3 Series Wagon, despite being one of the must successful 3er models in Europe, accounting for up to 50 % of 3 Series sales.

The publication won’t give a direct quote from Robertson, instead points too BMW’s own figures show being unable to sell higher than a thousand per year from the U.S., therefore making the Wagon a less compelling product with regards to revenue.

“The sport-activity vehicle remains dominant inside U.S. There’d need to be a serious alternation in behavior to make the Touring a roaring success,” said Robertson for InsideLine.

Interesting enough is the fact back May 2010, former BMWNA CEO, Jim O’Donnell, said he doesn’t need to lose wagon sales to Mercedes-Benz so BMW can keep the Series wagon rolling around in its lineup. Past rumors said the revolutionary 3 Series Wagon are going to be replaced with a 3 Series Gran Turismo.

BMWBLOG’s own sources claim that the company will not be yet at a point the place where a ultimate decision needs to be made and the product plans may alternation in early 2012.
